Xiaomi 11 Computational Photography

In today’s official warm-up, Xiaomi phone Weibo routinely brings daily news of new machine previews, and today brings about the Xiaomi 11 computational photography. Xiaomi Mobile phone said, “Xiaomi 11 Computational Photography, brings a breakthrough in high-end imaging. Computational Photography, with artificial intelligence to break through the physical limits of optics, with powerful arithmetic to create a new visual imagination, with deep learning beyond the details visible to the human eye. With this, Xiaomi 11 brings a series of new experiences that exceed expectations.”

What is computational photography?

Computational Photography, which refers to the fact that in today’s (smartphone) photography process, the photos taken are usually generated based on big data, AI, and other new technological means to calculate various parameters. The process of generating this photo combines a variety of hardware and software technologies, and at the moment of pressing the shutter, a variety of complex calculations are carried out behind the scenes at the same time. Apple and Google have already had the use of the technology. This time, Xiaomi will also bring their own “growth” photography camera.

For photo performance, the Snapdragon 888’s Spectra ISP, which we have described in detail before. It supports faster billion-pixel processing, enabling users to capture photos and videos at 2.7 billion pixels per second – 120 frames per second and 12 megapixels per frame – a 35 percent increase in processing speed compared to the previous generation platform. According to previous reports, Xiaomi also working on a self-developed ISP.

Xiaomi 11 LPDDR5 6400Mbps RAM

Xiaomi also announced the official equipment of two Xiaomi 11 heavyweight technology, respectively, an LPDDR5 memory, the first Wi-Fi 6E. Xiaomi introduced Xiaomi 11 will debut LPDDR5 full-blooded version, the rate soared to 6400Mbps, 116% of the previous generation, will fully release the full potential of Snapdragon 888.

Compared to the ordinary version of LPDDR5 5500Mbps, Lei Jun said the full-blooded version of LPDDR5 improved nearly 1000Mbps, theoretical read and write speed has a significant increase.

LPDDR (Low Power DDR) is a type of DDR SDRAM for mobile electronics such as cell phones, tablets, and thin and light notebooks. For the notebook side, AMD Ryzen 4000U and Intel’s 11th generation Core supports the full-blooded version of LPDDR4X-4266. Intel has said that Tiger Lake supports up to LPDDR5-5400, a significant increase in memory bandwidth of about 96GB/s.

Xiaomi 11 WiFi 6 Enhanced Edition

As for the Wi-Fi 6 enhanced version, also the first Xiaomi 11 equipped, the official claim is 2021 Wi-Fi new standard, the first time to support 4K QAM encoding, upgrade to 160MHz bandwidth. Lei Jun said that the Wi-Fi 6 enhanced version, enhanced not just a little, the transmission information density increased by 20%, the final network speeds up to 2.1 times faster, up to 3.5Gbps.

As the most popular and most commonly used way to connect to wireless networks, WiFi technology has entered a period of technological explosion from its early slow development. Just ten months after the Xiaomi 10 came standard with WiFi 6 in February this year, WiFi technology has ushered in another wave of explosive growth: WiFi 6 Enhanced Edition. Don’t look at just the enhanced version, the enhancement is not a little. The network speed jumped from 1.7Gbps in the previous generation to 3.5Gbps, a doubling of the speed, representing the highest level of mobile WiFi capability in 2021.

Let’s first review the previous generation of WiFi 6 – the sixth generation of wireless communication technology, formerly known as 802.11ax. Due to the cumbersome name of the standard, the IEEE Standards Association has simplified the label to a digital pronoun. Its core upgrades over the previous generation of technology are higher speed, higher concurrency, lower latency, and more power-efficient.

WiFi 6 Enhanced: Up to 4096QAM, 20% increase in transmission density

Xiaomi 11 supports WiFi 6 Enhanced with 4096QAM coding technology, which enables more data to be included in each packet. QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) is a technology that converts radio waves into binary code blocks, and the increase in order represents an increase in physical layer modulation rate, with higher order. The coding technique can both increase the utilization of frequency and also greatly improve the transmission rate. The higher the number of orders, the higher the number of binary bits carried per QAM, which means more information per unit time, per unit carrier.

The 1024QAM of the WiFi 6 era was already very dense, and the 4096QAM used in WiFi 6 Enhanced is much denser, with a 20% increase in throughput over 1024QAM. Simply put, 1024QAM is like a truck carrying up to 1 ton of cargo, while 4096QAM is a truck that can carry 1.2 tons of cargo, which can transport 20% more cargo in a single trip on the same freight path.

WiFi 6 Enhanced: Bandwidth Up to 160MHz, “Wider lanes” doublethe speed

WiFi 6 enhanced version of the 5GHz band, due to limited spectrum resources, will use 80MHz + 80MHz to synthesize 160MHz bandwidth, the synthesis of 160MHz wideband speed than 80MHz increased by 1x time. 80MHz bandwidth is like driving on a single-lane highway. The efficiency of transporting packets is limited, while 160MHz bandwidth is like a double lane, transporting packets twice as fast.

In a nutshell, WiFi 6 Enhanced allows you to enjoy a stable network with high speed, low latency, and low power consumption in a complex environment with short distances and multiple devices.

Of course, it’s not enough for Xiaomi 11 to support WiFi 6 Enhanced, it also needs the best partner: a new router AX6000 that supports WiFi 6 Enhanced Edition. Just like the Xiaomi router AX3600 released at the same venue as the Xiaomi 10 launch that supports WiFi 6. A new router will also be released at the launch on December 28, which will be the first high-end router that can squeeze Xiaomi 11 WiFi performance, also supporting 4096QAM and 160MHz bandwidth.
