What’s the difference between Android and HarmonyOS

On December 16th, the HarmonyOS 2.0 Beta version of the mobile phone for developers was officially launched, and P40 and Mate 30 series can already apply for testing. Although the UI of the demo and the Android-based EMUI are somewhat detailed, Huawei revealed that the official version will have a new interface in the future. As for the support for Android APP, it is also a convenient transition, the future will be a special APP that reflects the concept of HarmonyOS.

Is Huawei Harmony OS an Android skinning? Is there any difference between the principle of android and HarmonyOS? What is the difference between application implementation and invocation? What are the advantages of the Harmony operating system? To answer these questions, recently Changan Digital released a video detailing the differences between HarmonyOS and Android. That is, what Harmony OS can do and Android can’t do.

HarmonyOS in-depth demonstration

According to Changan Digital, the HarmonyOS system can call the FA source program for distributed interaction across devices. Specifically, take Jingdong APP which is adapted to HarmonyOS as an example, click the flow button to flow the current page to other HarmonyOS devices, and at the same time call the corresponding FA meta-program in that device to interact, to realize distributed seamless transfer.

The Changan Digital emphasizes that the basic logic of HarmonyOS software is not the same as Android, a package of Harmony OS contains multiple meta-programs and meta-services composed of hap packages, when calling only the required meta-programs or meta-services can be called, also makes multi-device distributed interaction can be more convenient to achieve.

Manufacturers can also develop meta-services and meta-programs for different devices, and package them into different hap packages according to different devices, and then package the hap packages adapted and multiple devices into app packages, and install the corresponding hap packages for different devices during application installation, and then simply call the corresponding meta-programs FA of the corresponding devices to interact with them during distributed interaction, so that distributed seamless transfer can be realized, to facilitate distributed interaction.

This is the core logic and principle of Huawei’s newly born Harmony OS system, which makes a huge difference between Android and HarmonyOS.
