Recently, Samsung comes out with ISOCELL Vizion 33D ToF (Time-of-Flight) depth measuring sensor, which is contrived for distance, depth, and dimension. Samsung ISOCELL Vizion 33D features 4-tap pixels, can deliver precise and swift depth-sensing capabilities for next-level 3D applications.

Samsung ISOCELL Vizion 33D features 4-tap pixels, can deliver precise and swift depth-sensing capabilities for next-level 3D applications. It is optimized for Pro-level shots with bokeh effects, best-in-class photography, accurate 3D object images, and AR/VR experiences.

As a ToF (Time-of-Flight) sensor, that can provide accurate distance data and track fast-moving objects for faster autofocus and video bokeh. It can generate depth maps with 640 x 480 px resolution and measure the distance between 0.2m to 5m with 10 to 12-bit resolution while going up to 120fps for low-latency tracking.

While using autofocus assist, it requires the power of 200mW for both sensor and IR illumination. For the continuing need for AR and video bokeh effects tracking, it uses 400mW power which is still power efficient. Part of the ISOCELL feature, the Deep Trench Isolation reduces cross-talk between pixels, which helps the sensor cleanly separate the subject from the background.

Samsung ISOCELL Vizion 33D is also useful in Face ID, to device unlock, so it can be also used next to selfie camera for better photography and biometric. The sensor can be seen in future Samsung’s flagship and other smartphones too and will give tough competition to Sony’s depth sensors.
