The long-awaited Huawei Mate 40 series will be unveiled globally Today, 22 October 2020 at 5:30 pm Thursday (Indian Time), and all the mysteries about the series will be revealed. Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei’s consumer business once said that “the Huawei Mate 40 series will be the most powerful Huawei Mate ever.”

Huawei Mate 40 Series Launch Event Highlights

In time for the launch, detailed configuration of the Huawei Mate 40 Pro/Pro+ and RS Porsche Design, are already known from rumors. In terms of form factor, the three models are confirmed to be in waterfall screen form, with the Mate 40 Pro measuring 9.1mm thick and weighing 212g, featuring a 6.67-inch 1344p OLED waterfall screen with support for 90Hz refresh rate and under-screen fingerprint recognition.

At the core, Mate 40 Pro with Kirin 9000 chip, with LPDDR5 RAM + UFS 3.1 flash memory, battery capacity of 4400mAh, support 66W wired charging, 50W wireless fast charging, support reverse wireless charging. One of the highlights is the Kirin 9000, built on TSMC’s 5nm process, the CPU consists of one 3.13GHz A77 + three 2.54GHz A77 + four 2.04GHz A55, while the GPU integrates Mali-G78 and the cores are stacked to 24, reaching the upper limit supported by the G78.

Another highlight is the camera, with the Pro version having a 50 megapixel’s main camera (RYYB) + 20 megapixel’s ultra-wide-angle (Freefrom) + 12 megapixel’s telephoto (5x optical zoom) + laser focus quad-camera on the rear, supporting 8K video recording, and a 13 megapixel’s + 3D ToF lens on the front, supporting 3D face unlocking and spaced-out gestures.

Elsewhere, the Huawei Mate 40 Pro supports stereo dual speakers, Wi-Fi 6+, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and other features, and runs EMUI 11 from the factory.

Then there’s the extra-large-cup Mate 40 Pro+, which has essentially the same form factor as the Pro version, with the main difference being the rear camera, which features a 50-megapixel main camera (RYYB) + 20-megapixel ultra-wide-angle (freeform) + 8-megapixel 10x optical zoom telephoto + 8-megapixel 3x optical zoom telephoto lens + 3D ToF lens.

Finally, there’s the Mate 40 RS Porsche Edition, with the rear camera changing from a circular to an octagonal layout, and an additional infrared temperature measurement sensor, with ceramic black and ceramic white options.
