Samsung Exynos 2100
Samsung seems to be making a push in the 5nm chip space, not only found the Snapdragon 875, but its own Exynos is also preparing two 5nm SoCs namely Exynos 1080 and Exynos 2100. One of them is the Exynos 1080 for the Chinese market, with Cortex-A78+Mali-G78, which is claimed to have reached flagship performance levels which is confirmed by AnTuTu Benchmark running score.
Recently, new information from the pop-up Ice Universe discussed the graphics performance of the Exynos 2100 and Snapdragon 875. He notes that the Exynos 2100 will feature an ARM Mali-G78 GPU with 14 graphics cores, while the Adreno 660 found in the Snapdragon 875 will run at 660MHz.
This could mean that if Qualcomm and its smartphone partners work closely together, both could be looking for ways to increase the GPU’s main clock speed while keeping it cool to get ahead of the competition with the Exynos 2100.
Even earlier, Ice Universe pointed out that the Snapdragon 875 could be the only chip with an ARM Cortex-X1 super core in 2021, but more recently, he found out that the Exynos 2100 could have the same core. That could mean that the computational performance of the two chips is also very similar, although the previous tipster mentioned that the Exynos 2100 won’t be faster than the Snapdragon 875 for some reason.
It’s worth noting that Samsung may release the Exynos version of the Galaxy S21 series in Korea this time. The previous generation Samsung Galaxy S20 series was released in Korea with the Qualcomm Snapdragon version and in Europe with the Exynos version.
