Following the hands-on video of Huawei Mate 40 Pro, Blogger Tech Aesthetics has also revealed a set of spy shots of the mysterious new phone, which is suspected to have been taken on the subway. From the spy photos, the phone should be Huawei branding positive, the status bar icon at the top of the screen is a typical EMUI style.

The phone also currently wears a leak-proof case, a larger screen curvature should be a waterfall screen, and a double perforated design on the top left side. There is speculation that the new phone is likely to be a part of the Mate 40 series, but this cannot be confirmed yet.

Besides, Weibo blogger Digital Chat Station has also revealed details about the rear camera module of Huawei Mate 40 Series, which will continue to use the rear quad-camera scheme.

According to the three images in the leak, the rear camera modules are not identical and should be for the Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro and Mate 40 Pro + respectively. The tipster claims that the standard Mate 40 will come with a curved screen + rear triple-camera solution, the higher one will be a waterfall screen + rear quad-camera module combination, and the other one has five apertures, with an extra-large rectangular aperture in the middle compared to the previous two, which may belong to the Mate 40 Pro Plus’s rear camera module.

The tipster also hinted at a single front-facing camera as standard and a front-facing “pill-hole” (possibly alluding to a dual-camera) on the high end. He added: “Sony IMX700+ periscope lens with some new tech should brush DxoMark list.” According to previous reports, Huawei’s new Mate 40 series of flagship smartphones is expected to be launched in October.
