Sony has officially announced several new products, including the compact and light-weight Alpha 7C (Sony Alpha A7c) and the equally compact and portable zoom lens FE 28-60mm F4-5.6 and flash HVL-F28RM.
Full-Frame Sony Alpha A7C
The Alpha 7C is a sleek, compact, lightweight, and portable full-frame camera with professional capabilities such as autofocus and 4K video capture. When paired with the newly developed compact FE 28-60mm F4-5.6 standard zoom lens, it dramatically increases portability and professionalism, while providing excellent full-frame image capture capabilities.
The compact and portable HVL-F28RM flash supports intelligent flash control with flash control linked to camera face detection, and the Alpha 7C camera and the FE 28-60mm F4-5.6 zoom lens have been newly designed to combine to form Sony’s smallest and lightest full-frame image capture system.
The Alpha 7C camera features a full-frame Exmor R CMOS image sensor with approximately 24.2 effective megapixels, a BIONZ X image processor, and 15 levels of wide dynamic range.
With a body size of only approximately 124.0mm x 71.1mm x 59.7mm and a weight of only approximately 509g, the Alpha 7C is similar in size and weight to the APS-C frame cameras and is only approximately 1% heavier than the Alpha 6600.
Even in such a small body, the Alpha 7C features 5-axis image stabilization and can be held in the hand for clear, stable images in low light, for example. In addition, the Alpha 7C is powered by a large-capacity NP-FZ100 battery that can take approximately 740 photos when using the LCD view and 680 photos when using the EVF view. The new Alpha 7C is available in two body colors, silver, and black.
The Alpha 7C also features real-time eye (human-eye) focus for shooting video, which supports automatic eye tracking with high precision and stability, allowing users to focus on shooting content. Users can also customize seven AF switching speeds and five AF tracking sensitivities to suit their needs. Besides, the touch-tracking function also supports video shooting.
Sony Alpha 7c Price and Availability
The new Alpha 7C compact full-frame camera will be available in late October and will be sold for approximately $1,799.99 USD and $2,399.99 CAD. It will be sold at a variety of Sony’s authorized dealers throughout North America.
Sony FE 28-60mm F4-5.6 standard zoom lens
In addition to the Alpha 7C full-frame micro camera, Sony has also announced the zoom lens Sony FE 28-60mm F4-5.6 and the flash HVL-F28RM.
The FE 28-60mm F4-5.6 is a compact and lightweight standard zoom lens that delivers high-resolution performance across the entire zoom range. The optimized configuration of the three built-in aspherical lenses suppresses aberrations and enables high-resolution performance from the center to the edge. The minimum focus distance is from approx. 0.3m (wide angle) to approx. 0.45m (telephoto), with a close-up function for everyday use and video shooting with a stabilizer or grip.
The FE 28-60mm F4-5.6 zoom lens will be available in early 2021 and will be sold for approximately $499.99 USD and $649.99 CAD. It will be sold at a variety of Sony’s authorized dealers throughout North America.
Sony HVL-F28RM Flash
HVL-F28RM: Lightweight flash with intelligent flash control linked to the camera’s face detection. The HVL-F28RM is a compact and portable flash that is used with Sony’s Micro SLR cameras to form a professional portable shooting system with the reliability and stability available from the factory.
The HVL-F28RM flash will be available this winter and will be sold for approximately $249.99 USD and $329.99 CAD. It will be sold at a variety of Sony’s authorized dealers throughout North America.
A new kit featuring the Alpha 7C compact full-frame camera and FE 28-60mm F4-5.6 zoom lens will also be available in late October and will be sold for approximately $2,099.99 USD and $2,699.99 CAD. It will be sold at a variety of Sony’s authorized dealers throughout North America.
