Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra Remotely Control Sports Car

Recently, Xiaomi has officially modified a car that can be remotely controlled via the Mi 10 Ultra 5G SA network to race against professional drivers in real-time, even if the two are thousands of miles apart.

Xiaomi today previewed a video in which it will use the Mi 10 Supreme Edition to engage in a virtual and realistic car race over 5G SA low latency network thousands of miles away.

Xiaomi said the 5G SA network is gradually maturing, with a minimum of 1ms latency and unlimited future possibilities. Xiaomi modified a car that can be remotely controlled in real-time via the Mi 10 Ultra 5G SA network, even if the two are thousands of miles apart, and it can race with professional drivers.

Xiaomi operates the car thousands of miles away from the Tianjin International Circuit through a 5G commissioning room in Shanghai. And this 5G race car has previously gone through thorough debugging preparation. On the one hand, a real-life racing driver, and on the other hand, an eSports player who controls a remote racing car with a Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra, the two cars set off at the same time on the race track. In the end, the Mi 10 Ultra crossed the finish line via SA remote control of the 5G car.

5G NSA vs 5G SA

It’s called Non-Standalone Networking (NSA), and it’s a 5G network that combines the current 4G network architecture. It’s very fast and can be covered by a 5G network by adding a 5G base station directly to the 4G core network.

However, since the 4G core network is still in use, 5G features such as the Internet of Everything and low latency cannot be maximized. 5G SA, on the other hand, is called standalone networking. It is a rebuilt 5G base station and 5G core network that fully realizes the low latency, high speed, and wide connectivity features and functions of 5G networks. NSA is a necessary stage in the development of 5G, and SA is the ultimate evolution direction of 5G.

Of course, the ultra-low latency advantage of 5G SA is not only limited to the network, but can also benefit the gaming, VR, industrial manufacturing, medical institutions, and even the future automotive and transportation industries.

Beginning in the second half of 2020, major operators have been conducting large-scale tests of 5G SA trial networks. As the SA network is deployed on a large scale, Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra users will be able to enjoy a full-featured 5G network.

5G SA technology can effectively reduce latency and increase the data transfer rate, perfectly solving the latency problem of remote control. The response time can be reduced from an average of 50ms in 4G to 1-2ms, so even if the phone is thousands of miles away from the car, the latency between the remote control and the car’s response is ultra-low, allowing for real-time control.

Notice: A car driving at high speeds and remote control of millisecond delays would be a dangerous thing to do.
