Mi 10 Ultra 50W Wireless Charging Secret

Xiaomi’s 50-watt wireless charging what exactly are the “accelerating secrets”?

The Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra is equipped with a 50-watt wireless second charge, which can charge a large 4500mAh battery to 100% in 40 minutes, charging speed even surpasses the same power of wired charging. Today, Xiaomi reveals the “secret weapon” behind the Mi 10 Ultra layer by layer, why it can make the 50-watt wireless second charge do faster than fast.

4:2 Efficient Architecture Improves Charging Conversion Efficiency.

Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra adopts a more efficient charging architecture, which on the one hand minimizes the architectural layers in the wireless charging process, and on the other hand, improves the conversion efficiency of the charging chip.

First of all, unlike the conventional 2:1 dual-layer charging scheme, the Mi 10 Ultra adopts a more direct 4:2 single-layer charging structure, which can effectively reduce the energy loss during the charging process.

When using high-power wireless charging, the conventional 2:1 double-stage charging scheme requires two levels of charge pump step-by-stage buck, each level of buck means an energy loss, double-stage charge pump scheme is inevitably higher energy loss.

Assuming the energy received by the coil is 100, and the conversion efficiency of the charge pump is 97%, without considering other losses such as circuitry, theoretically, the energy received by a conventional mobile phone battery is 100 x 97% x 97% ≈ 94.

The 4:2 direct-charging architecture of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra only requires a step-down, and without considering other losses such as circuitry, theoretically, the energy received by the battery is 100 x 97% x 97% ≈ 94. The energy is 100 x 97% ≈ 97. It can be seen that by optimizing the pathway architecture on the charging link and reducing the variable voltage level, it can effectively reduce energy loss and improve the overall charging efficiency.

Besides, the Mi 10 Ultra also uses a new custom charge pump, the past charge pump chip conversion efficiency of about 95%, 96%, 97% of the previous generation of Xiaomi, this custom charge pump conversion efficiency to further improve to more than 98.5%, higher charging efficiency and lower loss, from the source to reduce the energy loss in the charging process.

Secondly, a more efficient custom charge pump can also reduce the heat generated during the charging process, lower charging temperature to further extend the duration of high-power charging, improve the speed of charging.

Not only that, but the Mi 10 Ultra also uses dual parallel charging, breaking down the high current into dual small current charging, reducing the impedance of the charging path, reducing the heat loss of the charging path, not only improving the overall conversion efficiency, the stability of the charge is also greatly improved.

Faster charging speed from the pursuit of the ultimate in every detail.

To achieve faster-charging speed, the Mi 10 Ultra is fully optimized for battery scheme, charging strategy, component selection, charging coil, and even wireless seat charging.

Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra adopts a new butterfly dual-serial battery, the battery internal series connected to two 2250mAh cells, equivalent to 4500mAh. The structural design of the butterfly dual-cell series can double the charging power in the case of the same charging current.

The newly designed butterfly encapsulation also has a smaller protection circuit than traditional side-by-side dual-series batteries, gaining greater battery capacity with the same volume. A new high conductive material, graphene-based, is added to the battery cathode, which is 1000 times more conductive than the traditional carbon black material, further enhancing the charging efficiency of the battery.

The thicker and lower impedance dual FPC connection between the battery and the motherboard not only disperses the heat source, but also the thicker and lower impedance custom FPC effectively reduces the energy loss during charging, reducing heat generation and enhancing charging efficiency at the same time.

The back of the protection circuit also adds a phase change heat storage material to effectively mitigate battery temperature rise during charging and extend the duration of high-power charging.

Besides, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra for the first time using multi-level variable current control technology, with cell voltage detection, real-time charging power control, from the original “multi-step shifting” upgraded to approximate “step-less variable speed”, through a more refined charging strategy. With Mi-FC fast charging technology, the overall speed is further enhanced.

Moreover, the Mi-10 Ultra charging coil adopts 5-layer nano-crystal and multi-strand winding technology, which not only makes the wireless charging magnetic field more densely gathered around the receiver coil, but also can avoid the skin effect, effectively reducing the energy loss of the coil part in the wireless charging process, and greatly improving the energy transmission efficiency of the coil, with the custom wireless charging receiver chip, wireless charging process; higher electromagnetic conversion efficiency to improve wireless charging reception on the phone side.

Thanks to the 4:2 efficient charging architecture and the optimization of many details, the 50-watt wireless charging speed of the Mi 10 Ultra is far faster than other wireless charging-enabled phones on the market today, and even better than higher-powered concepts, allowing wireless charging speeds to surpass wired charging of the same power.

With 120 watts of ultra-powerful wired second charge and up to 10 watts of wireless reverse charge, it makes up a multi-scene triple fast-charging system in the 5G era, allowing the user to completely say goodbye to power anxiety during use and enjoy the technological experience brought by the many innovative technologies of the Mi 10 Ultra.
