MediaTek Dimensity 800U 5G

MediaTek today announced its latest 5G SoC, the Dimensity 800U, a new member of the Dimensity 800 series that adopts TSMC’s advanced 7nm process, multi-core architecture, and supports 5G+5G dual SIM and dual standby technology, enabling the development of new 5G SoCs and accelerating 5G.

The Dimensity 800U with integrated 5G modem not only fully supports independent (SA) and non-independent (NSA) networking in the Sub-6GHz band, but also supports cutting-edge 5G technologies such as 5G+5G dual SIM and dual standby, dual VoNR voice services, and 5G dual-carrier aggregation to bring users more high-speed and stable 5G connectivity.

The Dimensity 800U supports MediaTek’s 5G UltraSave power-saving technology, which dynamically adjusts the modem’s operating mode according to the network environment and data transmission conditions, enabling terminals to provide users with longer-lasting 5G endurance.

The Dimensity 800U adopts a 7nm process, which helps the processor take full advantage of its performance while reducing power consumption. The CPU of the Dimensity 800U is based on an octa-core architecture that includes two ARM Cortex-A76 cores clocked up to 2.4GHz and six energy-efficient ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0GHz. Besides, the Dimensity 800U also features the ARM Mali-G57 GPU, a discrete AI processor APU, LPDDR4X memory, and turbo write flash acceleration support.

Data provided by MediaTek shows that, compared with Dimensity 720, Dimensity 800U CPU performance has increased by 11%, and GPU performance has increased by 28%.

The deputy general manager of MediaTek’s wireless communications business department said that the Dimensity 800U brings the most advanced next-generation technologies into the Dimensity SoC series, including MediaTek’s advanced 5G, camera, and multimedia technologies.
