Manu Kumar Jain, Xiaomi’s head of marketing in India, tweeted that “Xiaomi will fully comply with Indian government requirements and that there will be no blocked apps on Xiaomi phones” and that “100% of Indian users’ data will be retained in India.”

The Indian government has banned the use of the Xiaomi browser on smartphones made by Xiaomi, with the Indian official saying: “The use of the Xiaomi browser may affect the operation of these devices, as well as access to the Internet.”

India began taking action in June this year to ban 59 Chinese apps, including TikTok, UC Browser, and WeChat. According to previous Indian media sources, the Indian government recently listed another 47 apps for the relevant local markets and made it mandatory for them to be removed from the shelves, but Indian officials have not released a detailed list of these apps.
