TSMC Confirmed to Cut off Huawei

The US ban on May 15 shows that the prohibition of using US technology to cooperate with Huawei means that TSMC is restricted and cannot manufacture Huawei HiSilicon Kirin chips.

The specific time limit is 120 days, which means that Huawei ordered products that started production before May 15 will not be affected, but to complete the delivery before September 14, you must first apply to the US government and obtain a license.

Therefore, since TSMC has not applied for a license, it can no longer accept new orders from Huawei and its subsidiary HiSilicon Semiconductor Company from May 15th and must complete the delivery of existing orders before September 14.

A few days ago, TSMC revealed at a revenue conference that the company did not plan to continue supplying Huawei after September 14 due to the US government’s ban on Huawei.

If the US government’s ban on Huawei remains unchanged, the company will stop supplying Huawei after September 14.

However, according to the latest news, it is rumored that TSMC, Qualcomm, etc. have submitted submissions to the US, hoping to ensure the supply of Huawei. Data shows that Huawei contributed about US$5.1 billion in performance to TSMC in 2019, and TSMC naturally does not want to lose Huawei, a major customer. As of press time, Huawei has not yet responded to this.
