Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus
In today’s morning, Lenovo Legion gaming phone appeared on the Antutu benchmark database using Snapdragon 865 high-frequency version; latter Asus also confirmed Snapdragon 865+ SoC naming for Rog Phone 3. Now finally Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ officially uncovered.
The Snapdragon 865 has appeared in more than 140 devices, and Qualcomm has just released its upgraded version- Snapdragon 865+ (Snapdragon 865 Plus) with a performance increase of nearly 10%, designed to be built for gaming and AI applications.
Compared with the standard version of Snapdragon 865, Snapdragon 865 Plus has three major improvements:
- The clock frequency of the Kryo 585 CPU has been increased to 3.1GHz, which is 10% higher than the standard version 865.
- The graphics rendering speed of the Adreno 650 GPU has been increased by 10%.
- Newly added compatibility with Qualcomm’s FastConnect 6900 connection kit, which the company says supports Wi-Fi 6E speeds up to 3.6Gbps.
The Snapdragon 865+ continues to support HDR games, 10-bit color depth and Rec.2020 color gamut, and hardware-accelerated H.265 and VP9 decoding. Besides, there are HDR playback features of HDR10+, HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision, and the latest Bluetooth 5.2 specification is supported.
The Snapdragon 865 Plus supports up to 16GB of 2750MHz LPDDR5 RAM or 2133MHz LPDDR4x memory, which is unchanged from the Snapdragon 865.
Compared with the ordinary 865, the Snapdragon 865 Plus has improved the game performance of the CPU and GPU. This also means that Qualcomm did not integrate the Snapdragon X55 modem into the main chipset or adopted the plug-in form. This improvement seems to have to wait as early as 2021.
