OmniVision OV64B Feature Introduction
- 0.7 micron, 64MP Image Sensor
- PureCel® Plus stacked die tech
- Top 4K video with electronic image stabilization
- 8K video at 30 frames/sec
- Take ultra-thin smartphone to the next level.
According to Report, OmniVision Technologies released the OmniVision OV64B image sensor, which it officially says is the industry’s only 0.7-micron image sensor with up to 64 megapixels resolution for the first time in a 1/2″ optical size. This allows high end and high mainstream smartphone designers to create the thinnest possible phones with high-resolution 64MP cameras.

OmniVision OV64B sensor features still image capture and 4K video recording with Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) and 8K video at 30 frames per second (fps), based on OmniVision Technologies’s PureCel Plus stacked chip technology.
The OV64B supports 3x exposure interlaced HDR in video mode up to 16 megapixels. Integrated four-in-one color filter array and on-chip hardware pixel recombination algorithm provides 64-megapixel premium real-time Bayer output. In low light conditions, this sensor can output 16 megapixels with 4x sensitivity using adjacent pixel mergers, providing 1.4-micron equivalent performance for preview and static capture. In both cases, the OV64B consistently captures quality images, supports 2x digital crop zoom, 16-megapixel resolution, and fast mode switching.
The OV64B also offers a CPHY interface for greater data transfer with fewer pins to support 1080p slow-motion video at 240 fps and 720p slow-motion video at 480 fps. Other output formats include 64MP at 15 fps, 8K video at 30 fps, 16-megapixel capture at 30 fps with four-in-one pixel merge, 4K video at 60 fps, and 4K video at 30 fps with electronic anti-shake. samples of the OV64B image sensor are expected to be available in May.
