First, Why does the Honor 30 series do super telephoto?

To solve this problem, the Honor 30 series uses a periscope telephoto lens with a periscope light path design consisting of a refracting prism and a transverse precision zoom mechanism: the sensor is placed vertically inside the phone, the optical axis of the lens is parallel to the body, and the incident light is deflected into the lens and sensor by 90° through the optical prism.

The Honor 30 series places the super zoom lens horizontally in the body, where thickness is no longer a bottleneck in lens height, allowing for 5x optical zoom, 10x hybrid zoom and up to 50x digital zoom.

The periscopic telephoto lens design allows the phone to have both a longer telephoto range and a thinner body. The OIS-X and OIS-Y anti-shake is achieved by the independent movement of the prism and lens, respectively. The dual-structure OIS optical anti-shake of the Honor 30 series is more stable than the normal periscope single prism OIS optical anti-shake.

In addition to the dual-structure OIS optical stabilization on the hardware, the Honor 30 series introduces AIS telephoto super stabilization, which greatly improves image stability.

When the phone is actually shooting video or previews, the camera moves along with the body, and this movement causes the camera to capture a lot of variation between frames, and visually the picture shakes violently. This is even more evident in high zoom shots, where even the smallest movements are magnified in high zoom situations.

The AIS telephoto super-stabilization algorithm in the Honor 30 series can intelligently calculate the phone’s bit position through the sensor to get the inter-frame variation of the image. Making video and preview screens smoother and more stable means re-planning the path of the screen.
