Realme X50 Camera Review
The Realme X50 is the first 5G new phone from Realme. The camera uses almost the same configuration as the realme X2 Pro, the same Samsung GW1 sensor, a 64-megapixel main camera + 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle + 12-megapixel telephoto lens. The main difference is that there is an extra 2 megapixel macro lens.
Of course, if we take a closer look, we can see that the size of the main camera sensor has increased slightly, from 1/1.72 inches to 1/1.7 inches, and the aperture of the ultra-wide-angle lens has been slightly reduced by 0.1. Of course, the light reading parameters have no meaning. We use the laboratory data and proofs to comprehensively look at the imaging quality of this phone and review Realme X50 camera.
According to laboratory data, the resolution has exceeded the Nyquist frequency, which is basically an expected performance.
Looking at the actual proofs, the advantages of 64 megapixel are obvious, and even after zooming in, a considerable amount of detail is retained.
However, we can also notice that because of the large pixel density of GW1, the imaging quality is affected to some extent. For example, this sample has purple fringing on the edges of objects with large light.
Here is a brief explanation: In the camera imaging system, the resolution of the camera is calculated by converting a continuous function in space into a discrete function in space according to sampling. According to the sampling theorem, if the signal bandwidth is less than half the sampling frequency (i.e., Nyquist frequency), then these discrete sampling points can completely represent the original signal, if the frequency components higher than or at the Nyquist frequency will cause aliasing, the test results obtained are not accurate.
According to data from laboratory tests, the overall saturation of the X50 in the normal mode is low. If it is adjusted to the glow mode, the saturation is greatly improved.
The real proofs are visible. In the 64-megapixel mode, the colors are true to life, without excessive color rendering.
The next two are 64 megapixels and Vivid mode, respectively. Visible Glow mode has deeper colors, and the photos are also sharpened sharply.
In terms of white balance, the look and feel is relatively cold, inheriting the performance of X2 Pro. Take this map of dead leaves as an example. The shooting time is 5pm. The actual look of the dead leaves will be more yellow than in the proof.
Dynamic range, that is, the camera can restore the brightest to the brightest range of the picture level. It can reflect the camera’s ability to restore brightness.
From the proofs, the light environment is basically kept to the light and dark details. Of course, when zoomed in, the smears on the dark parts will be more obvious, and the overall photo does not look so transparent.
Realme X50 Camera Review – Low Light Environment
Thanks to the four-in-one pixel technology, although it does not support optical image stabilization, the night scene performance of the realme X50 is also good. It also supports a tripod mode, but it usually requires tens of seconds of exposure time. The following three pictures are in the dark light environment, respectively, the night scene mode is not turned on, the night scene mode and the tripod mode are turned on.
Presumably you can clearly see that the picture in the tripod mode is more pure, with minimal smearing, and the color performance is relatively normal.
Another set of night scene proofs, we can also see that the highlight suppression performance is significantly better in night scene mode and tripod mode. Of course, the problem brought by the night scene mode is that the sharpening and noise reduction smears are more obvious, and the tripod mode does not have such problems. Therefore, if you want to get more dark details, we recommend turning on the tripod mode. However, the exposure time of the tripod mode is nearly 50 seconds. There is no way to hold it. It is best to use a tripod or find a fixed mobile phone location.
Realme X50 Video Stabilization
Realme X50 has 4K at 60fps less recording than realme X2 Pro, which is regrettable, but it is also equipped with realme X2 Pro’s UIS super anti-shake algorithm. UIS Max anti-shake algorithm is also added on this basis. Realme claims to have ” Action Camera Level “. However, the anti-shake algorithm usually comes at the cost of cropping the frame. Super Stabilizer Max is the anti-shake under the ultra-wide-angle lens. What is the specific anti-shake effect?
Judging from the video, the video with the super anti-shake turned on is relatively stable, but it can not avoid the problem of the surrounding scenes appearing to be blurred under large movement and low light environment. Overall, the anti-shake effect is not bad in terms of the performance of the mobile phone. In addition, the front camera also has UIS super anti-shake, which is still very friendly for Vlog photographers.
In general, the realme X50’s camera has good resolution, and imaging under daylight conditions is basically no problem. Although the color is colder and the image in the dark light environment is not pure, the tripod mode can greatly improve the performance of the night scene, and the overall imaging quality is still pass. The addition of super anti-shake UIS in video has brought good playability to this machine. I hope that the anti-shake algorithm can be further optimised in the later stage, and it can cope with larger motion scenarios.
