ARM MALI G57 GPU
Chip designer ARM has taken over the CPU and GPU design of almost all Android smartphones today, and the company has just released new ARM Mali G57 designs for midrange devices today.

The most important of these is the Mali G57 GPU, the first mid-range GPU based on the company’s new Valhall architecture, which is also used by the Mali-G77 flagship GPU. ARM claims that the Mali-G57’s “performance density” is 1.3 times higher than its previous mid-range graphics chip, the Mali-G52 GPU. Compared to earlier GPUs, its energy efficiency has also increased by 1.3 times. Supports centralized rendering in VR with up to 60% machine learning performance.

In addition, ARM also said that the “texture performance” of the Mali-G57 is twice that of the previous generation GPU. ARM added that the new GPU is also capable of handling HDR graphics, physics-based rendering and volume effects. In other words, its game performance is excellent.

ARM also released two new NPUs, the mid-range Ethos-N57 and the low-end Ethos-N37. Arm claims a performance increase of more than 200% compared to “many other NPUs”, although this may depend on the specific workload and other factors. These new NPUs are optimized for super resolution, target detection, image classification and speech translation.

Finally, ARM also released the Mali-D37 DPU, which brings high-end features to mid-range products. Based on the “Komeda” architecture first introduced in the Mali-D71, the new DPU targets 2K and FHD resolutions and promises only on 16nm, Occupied <1mm2.
