According to the official statement, the A77 architecture is a sequel to the A76 architecture, which further improves performance while maintaining the excellent energy efficiency of the A76 architecture and the smaller core area.

At the 3.0GHz clock speed, the A77’s IPC performance can be increased by 20% compared to the A76.

Arm said that through hardware enhancements and software optimizations, the overall ML performance of the past two generations of A7x processing (Cortex-A77 and Cortex-A76) has increased 35 times, which is comparable to today’s mainstream notebooks.

In theory, next year’s mainstream flagship SoC will use the Cortex-A77 architecture or continue to make minor modifications to the Cortex-A77, including Qualcomm and Samsung.

Huawei, due to sanctions, Arm has suspended cooperation with Huawei, so the next generation of Kirin processors is likely to miss the Cotex-A77 architecture.
